Mile 12 Gargrave Paleo Channels 359'

Mile 12
Gargrave 359’ This has been a very pleasing place to photograph. It is taken on and of private land and I met the farming family who owns it. They happily gave me permission to photograph here and I made several visits.

Thfirst time was a simple recce. Second, the cows noticed me and trotted towards me and following a short stand-off near the gate, I made a swift exit. A couple of days later, I turned up in the evening when there were no cows and was able to catch the sun low enough to pick out the ridges in the field. These evidence the river’s ancient meandering route across this flood plain: paleo channels. But here are the cows.
