Mile 18 Snaygill 298’

A wander on a fine evening in the heat. The Aire is low and set deep in its channel with artificially raised banks to protect the farmland from inundation when the Aire rises.

Nothing of that right now. Just a barn owl hunting nearby and I found the remains of a crayfish lunch on the footpath that runs along the dike. The size of this claw suggests American Signal Crayfish. The diner? Probably an otter.
