The Mile Point is difficult to get to because there is no right of way. All I can find to photograph at this Aire Mile is this water treatment plant – sewage works to you and I – behind a high fence and well screened by trees. Once waste water is filtered and deemed clean enough, it is released into the River Aire. Upgrades to treatment plants now involve ‘polishing’ which adds to the process by sending treated water through reed beds which take out minerals and nutrients and thus purer water re-enters the river
