Just downstream of Aire Mile 34 there is a 400 year old weir which originally created a head of water for abstraction for washing and to make steam. Since 1867, Bradford Amateur Rowing Club has been taking advantage of the calm deep waters upstream of the weir and its membership is still going strong.
